Be The Absolute Best For The World

Bcorp’s Best for the World 2016 gathering was last week in UC Berkeley. Although we weren’t there to directly represent, we thought we’d do a little article on what we as soulpeppers do day in and day out that’s “best for the world”. We challenge you to get out and do the same.

1) Be happy. Be positive.

Nobody likes a negative person. Yes we all go through our ups and downs, and that’s just life, but the difference between a positive person and a negative one is that a positive individual will learn to move on and improve, whereas a negative one will let it fester – It’s unhealthy. Don’t be one of those people.

2) Do something for the community big or small. Because every little thing adds up.

Get out, volunteer, and give back to the community and the environment. Doing these things as a company will not only do good for your reputation, but it’s a great opportunity to get out and bond as a team for a good cause. By doing this, you are also setting the standard in your industry as a change maker.

3) Smile 🙂

A simple smile can be the most contagious thing in the world.

A simple smile can be the most contagious thing in the world. It can also make the day of an unsuspecting stranger who could be having a rough time. If you’re feeling extra generous, throw in a compliment here and there and watch their heart fill with warmth.

4) HUGS!!

This is our personal favourite. Because who doesn’t need a hug every now and then?

5) Don’t fear change.

Change can be good for the world. In order for business and society to progress, change needs to be accepted.

6) Be the change you wish to see in this world.

Practice what you preach. If you want something good to happen, you must make sure you’re living up to your end of the bargain and make it happen yourself.

7) Be the best for you.

Now this may sound selfish, but if you feel good, you’ll want to share the feeling. How do you expect to take care of the world if you can’t take care of yourself? In a company, this means taking care of your employees as well. Listen to what they have to say, celebrate your successes together and make everyone feel good.

8) Be genuine.

By being genuine, you will attract followers who believe in what you do and want to help you create a movement.

Nobody likes a fake person (or company for that matter). Create a mission for yourself that’s true to your beliefs and values and follow through with it. By being genuine, you will attract followers who believe in what you do and want to help you create a movement.

9) Make your dreams into a reality.

The world’s biggest changemakers all started with a dream of making the world better in some way. Think Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, Richard Branson. They are all examples of entrepreneurs with big, lofty dreams. But the difference between these people and the average entrepreneur is that they turned their dreams into visions. They created a set of goals to make their dreams into a reality. In doing this, they were able to do things for the world that some might have never thought possible.

10) Impact Evaluation.

This is important. Set some time down every month or every quarter to take a look at the big picture. Have a look at where you stand, what you could do better, and the impact you’re having on yourself, the community and the environment. Change anything that needs to be changed, improve anything that needs to be improved and take a moment to reflect on all the good you’ve done. You’ll feel great about yourself.
