February is over. THANK GOD. The weather. Credit Card bills still on the books from Christmas. And for many businesses, a slow start to the year. Let’s face it, February can be a depressing month. I think that’s why they made it shorter than all the rest. If you’re feeling a little down about business, or results that haven’t met your expectations, here are a few simple ideas to keep you motivated and on track.

Recognize this is temporary

Nothing is permanent. All things change – even if it seems they don’t. So instead of seeing darkness, focus on the light at the end of the tunnel with the knowledge that everyday it’s getting closer. As soon as you get a new client, sell your first product, or hit your next target, everything will shift within you.

Remind yourself what you’re fighting for

Sometimes it’s helpful to create tangible reminds of the reasons you started down this path. A vision board may be useful, or a simple one page Intention Sheet permanently affixed to your workspace. Reintegrate WHY you are doing this into your daily action plans and your will to fight harder will be restored.

Believe in yourself

This can be hard, especially if you’ve been trying to make something work for a long time. You can lose faith in your ability to make it work or see it through. One way to mitigate this is keep track of all your successes. Even the little ones. When you’re feeling down, go back and review this list. Remind yourself you ARE capable and you CAN make this work.

Get help before you’re in crisis

If your business isn’t where you want it to be, if you aren’t making the leaps you envision, then obviously there is something going on. Before things go too far, before you get lost, or become too unmotivated, ask for help.

The problem may be with your business itself. It may be a branding issue, or a marketing issue. Or maybe you’re just not giving your clients what they want. The problem may also lie within. You yourself might benefit from some fine-tuning to work through the roadblocks currently in the way of your success.

As you develop the ability to keep motivations high, it will become easier to stay on track. Moments of self-doubt and frustration will become fewer and fewer in between. As you master your mindset, you’ll find that you will actually achieve the success you seek, and will reach your targets faster
